① Disaster Preparedness Week & EMS Week

  • Disaster Preparedness Week: August 30 (Thu.) ― September 5 (Wed.)
*Disaster Preparedness Day: September 1 (Sat.)
  • Japan was hard hit by a historic disaster on September 1, 1923-the Great Kanto Earthquake, that is. In 1960, September 1 was given the name “Disaster Preparedness Day.” Since then, fire and life safety events have been traditionally held throughout Japan in the Disaster Preparedness Week.
  • EMS Week: September 9 (Sun.) ― September 15 (Sat.)
      *EMS Day: September 9 (Sun.)
  • Two bodies-the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the Fire and Disaster Management Agency (of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications)-set down the EMS Day (Sept. 9) and the EMS Week (Sun.- Sat.) for community residents to understand more of EMS and for EMS workers to develop their professional awareness. Since the start of the Day and the Week in 1982, EMS Day/Week events have been carried out on the national level throughout Japan.
  • On September 2 (Sun.), the Comprehensive Joint Disaster Management Drill is going to take place at the *Chuo-ku venue and the **Minato-ku venue. The TFD is going to give exhibits there, too! For the TFD showcasing, please visit the Chuo site between 9:00 a.m. and noon, and the Minato site between 9:30 a.m. and noon…Be there!!
*Hamacho Park (2-59-1, Hamacho, Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku) and the nearby streets
**Odaiba Gakuen (1-1-5, Daiba, Minato-ku) and around Rainbow Park
  • On September 9 (Sun.), the EMS Day 2018 is going to take place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Aqua-Arena on the 3rd floor of the Aqua City Odaiba (1-7-1, Daiba, Minato-ku)…Learn with us just after shopping with your family!!
  • Fire stations have their own Disaster Preparedness Day and EMS Day programs for you. Join your local fire station at their events!!

② Virtual Reality (VR) Truck Is at Work in Reality!!

A virtual reality truck newly came up on April 21, attracting people’s attention!

It gives you head-mounted display images (What a surprise!), motion sheet-initiated quakes, smells, and more.

This disaster simulator vehicle can make you feel like you have never felt before!

For VR truck events, please access the TFD web page.

Do you want the VR truck for a community fire drill or a private fire brigade drill? If YES, please contact the local fire station in your area.

③ Stay Alive...Survive the Heat!!

HOT! HOT! EVEN NOW!!

Statistically and surprisingly, Japan’s hot, humid summer makes a lot of people from cold lands suffer.
