#7119 Emergency Telephone Consultation Center

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has introduced the Emergency Telephone Consultation Center in the TFD as the contact place to assist residents who got sick or injured but are not sure if they should call an ambulance or go to the hospital on their own. The emergency telephone consultation team consisting of doctors, nurses and former EMT’s is stationed there around the clock to respond to callers’ inquiries.

Tokyo EMS Guide

The Tokyo EMS Guide gives you advice on if illnesses/injuries are urgent, if seeing a doctor is necessary, when to see a doctor and which clinical branch to visit by answering questions based on your conditions.

Since April in 2012, we have provided it as a booklet and on the TFD Website. (The Tokyo EMS Guide is made by the EMS Consultation Operation Group, the EMS Committee of the Tokyo Medical Association and supervised by the Japanese Association for Acute Medicine (JAAM).)

The use of #7119 promotes the appropriate utilization of ambulances!

Effectiveness of the TFD Emergency Telephone Consultation Center

Of the 262,036 consultations where callers were unsure whether to call an ambulance, 42,674 cases were deemed urgent, and an ambulance was dispatched. On the other hand, in 219,362 cases, an ambulance was deemed unnecessary, and the callers were advised to seek medical attention on their own. As a result, ambulances were appropriately dispatched to Tokyo residents who truly needed them. Please use #7119 to promote the timely and appropriate utilization of ambulances.

Certificate for the Hospitals Supporting the Emergency Telephone Consultation Center in the TFD

Each hospital belonging to the Tokyo Medical Association is sending the doctors as a part-time member of the consultation team, and such hospitals are given a certificate by Fire Chief to indicate its contribution to the Center’s activities. The certificate is posted in the hospital building.
